Writing

The difficulty of literature is not to write, but to write what you mean.

I really want to be a writer when I grow up and be able to make a living doing that. I would like to win an Oscar for best original screenplay. Mainly, I'd like to do it because there's a pretty expensive coffee table in the Restoration Hardware catalog that I'd like to get.

  1. Despite the overwhelming popularity of LOLing among internet users, I have tried to make it a matter of personal policy not to actually laugh out loud at anything I encounter on the computer. Typically, when I have laughed audibly at something I read or see, Kris darts over to me and excitedly says "what?" Inevitably, because a)lacks the context in which I had originally viewed the humorous item, and b) lacks the full scope of my sense of humor (hers doesn't range as far into the juvenile), she ends up disappointed by whatever it was I found so funny. And a relationship can only survive so many moments of incongruous awkwardness, right? Well anyway, as I was reading this blogpost, I lost my composure momentarily and did actually laugh out loud. Since this roused Kris' curiosity, I read the passage to her. And, behold! She, too, laughed out loud! Must have been my dramatic oration.
