I've been things and seen places.

I think it's simple enough to understand why people need vacations. Just break down the word "vacation..."
Vay — as in short for "vaya" which in Spanish means "go." Also, a variation of "Vey" as in "Oy, Vey" which in Yiddish means "Oh no, I need to get away" or, more literally, "Oh, woe."
Cay - short for "Okay" as in - "It's okay to take a break every now and then." Also a sandy reef around coral. Who wouldn't want to visit a cay? Everyone would. Who lives there? No one. That's why it's part of vaCAtion.
and finally
Tion — or "shun": to avoid people whom you have to be around in your regular life but whom you cannot stand.
English is a super-simple language.
