I saw a woman the other day ask a colleague if he spoke "Spanish." I put the word "Spanish" in quotation marks because that is what she did with her fingers. According to Wikipedia, airquotes are used to indicate satire, sarcasm, irony or euphemism. I don't think the Spanish language is any of those things.
But that is "just me" "not understanding" what her "point" was.
