The Stoics thought that friends - real friends - are so-called "friends of virtue" - the kind of friends that are okay telling you that you are doing something wrong if they do think you are doing something wrong. And you you don't need a lot of them, but it's important to have at least one. To have that kind of person that you can go and have a drink with and say, "I've got this issue. What do you think?"

It is good to have good friends. It is also good to see the good friendship of others in action. It can be easy to stay at home and think the worst of people. But that's only fun for so long. And it's only healthy for not at all.
