When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years.

I have been doing some reading and apparently the frontal lobes of a teenager are not connected. That is why parents continually ask, "WHAT were you thinking?!"

I imagine it's like disconnecting a doorbell. It works, but the only time the resident answers the door is when s/he accidentally runs into you on the way to someplace else. And then s/he reacts in one of two ways: annoyed or very annoyed. Which is why they always have a look of "What do YOU want?!" on their faces.
