I have a pair of boots that I keep in the garage. When I put them on - especially in the fall or winter - I'm always afraid there will be a mouse in there. Regardless, I don't dump them out ahead of time. I think I kind of like the idea of being startled and then having a story to tell. And also, the boots are on the ground so they're closer to my feet than my hands, so I just put my feet in them.
