I think it's interesting that "urbane" which looks a lot like "urban" means polished and sophisticated.  In my experience cities aren't always polished and sophisticated.  But I'm not suggesting that we change it to "countrane" or "smalltownane" or "suburbane."  In fact, "suburbane" would probably mean slightly less than urbane.
