Our cat has several names:
Neko - Japanese for "cat"
Catten - because she's no longer a kitten, but not quite a cat
Miracle Kitten - because of her amazing will to survive.
Catten my Catten - in tribute to Walt Whitman's poem about Abraham Lincoln from Leaves of Grass.
NEEEEE - kola - pronounced as you would say "Ricola" from the commercials.
Neko Badeko - because it rhymes.
I'm not sure if we use these names with different levels of sentimentality or not.
It doesn't matter because she's a cat and she responds to none of them, anyway.
