Lying in bed would be an altogether perfect and supreme experience if only one had a colored pencil long enough to draw on the ceiling.

Is it coincidence that ceiling and sealing are homonyms? One covers us, the other locks us in on all sides. They both have to do with boundaries or restrictions. Or - if you are more optimistic - protection and shelter.
Do we appreciate the limitations ceilings put on us, though? Or do we resent them? Maybe it depends on the situation and the personality of the individual being ceilinged. Most things do depend on that.
Maybe it also depends on who drew on our ceilings. And what they drew. Maybe if it isn't something drawn well we never look up and there for we set out limits even lower than they have to be.
Or if it's a glass ceiling... Maybe people who live under glass ceilings should just throw stones. Which is going to be problematic for people who live on glass floors.
