I grew up in a drive-in theater, from the time I was eight, working in a snack bar watching four features a week. It was silent theater in the sense that this was a drive-in which meant that I often saw the films going with no sound. But I learned to tell stories through action.

I think I would have loved to grow up in a drive-in theater. Maybe I did. Maybe I was in fact Twyla Tharp in a previous life. I know that's complicated because she's still alive, but I'm a complicated person.
