I don't believe an accident of birth makes people sisters or brothers. It makes them siblings, gives them mutuality of parentage. Sisterhood and brotherhood is a condition people have to work at.

- - - - -Today is my brother Kirk's birthday. I agree that our siblingness has required work. Particularly on his part since I use words like "siblingness."
He is one of the greatest people I know.
