I think when you're an oldest there are some things you miss out on. Like having someone to show you the way and give you advice and look out for you. The look at Elizabeth's face here is the same one she had on her face the first time she saw Maddie in her letter jacket. I'm not sure Maddie noticed, but it's awfully cool.
Apparently, however, Maddie neglected her "big sister responsibilities" and forgot to tell Elizabeth to wash whatever that is off of her face.
