Alligator

Far off in the red mangroves an alligator has heaved himself onto a hummock of grass and lies there, studying his poems.

If I'm running away from an alligator because I'm scared, I'm NOT going to say, "See you later alligator." You think it's because I would be afraid and wouldn't have time to think of it. You'd be wrong though. I wouldn't be saying it because I do NOT WANT to see that alligator later. 

I could say something similar about if I was being chased by a crocodile.

Also, what did I do to make them so angry at me?

Also, exactly how fast can they run? I bet pretty fast. Like maybe 20 mph. Also, it's 20 mph because I just looked it up.
