Hose

I wonder why kids like playing with water hoses so much. Is it a deep desire to be a firefighter? Or, is it because they really want to "get" one another or adults and a relatively socially acceptable way to do that is to spray them with a hose?

I think, probably, the reason kids like water hoses is because there is always an element of surprise with a water hose. Like whether the water will taste good or rusty. Or whether or not you might accidentally swallow a bug from the hose if you drink from it. Or, if you whip the hose around will everyone get wet or will someone get zonked in the head with the nozzle?
