Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home.

So, the other day I facebooked Maddie and Elizabeth with a link to an Iowa State story about a video game design contest ISU is hosting with some grant money they received. My goal was to encourage the girls to consider computer program design as a career option. Neither of them was particularly engaged with the idea.

I even went so far as to encourage Maddie to come up with a game where the player has to design a dress while participating in a high speed car race. This was an attempt to pair an interest of hers with a concept that I know can do well in the video gaming world. She didn't go for it.

As disappointed as I was, it was not all bad.

That night at our house, Maddie worked on a dress she is making out of some free fabric she got while she was visiting her grandparents. And Elizabeth excitedly talked about how she and her friend Madeline had come up with a new card game called "Fast Hands."
