Groupthink

For it is dangerous to attach one's self to the crowd in front, and so long as each one of us is more willing to trust another than to judge for himself, we never show any judgement in the matter of living, but always a blind trust, and a mistake that has been passed on from hand to hand finally involves us and works our destruction. It is the example of other people that is our undoing; let us merely separate ourselves from the crowd, and we shall be made whole.
~ Seneca

I am not sure if cows, cattle, steers, bulls - whatever - like wearing earrings.  I kind of have to think that they do since so many of them have them.  Or maybe it's just that they are doing it because their friends are doing it.  Groupthink.  Or following the flock -- er, herd.

I'm so glad that human beings have evolved brains and can think for themselves and don't do that.

Can you imagine if they copied one another in some weird or unattractive fad?  Just to fit in or do what the media told them to do?  It makes me sick to think about it.  Ugg.
