If the word hotel come from "hote" which means "host." Then motel probably comes from "mote" which means to be allowed to. So, the next time you're traveling you need to decide if you want to be hosted or simply tolerated.
Actually, that's a good way to navigate life. Do you want to be a person others look forward to seeing? Or someone people just put up with. Or better yet, do you want to be someone people look forward to arriving or someone people look forward to departing.
Or even worse, deporting.
Or even worse, deposing.
Or even worse, despoting. Okay, despoting is not a word, but if it was, I sure wouldn't want it done to me.
