Monsters

Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster.  And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.
~ Friedrich Nietzsche

We all have our own versions of monsters.  For some people they are psychopaths from history.  For others monsters are the terrifying imaginary creatures we dream up.  For still others monsters are the creatures one has spawned.  The babies who go about the world recklessly - destroying it by following the genetic predispositions of the parents.  Being how they were.  Saying what they said.  Doing the horrible things the parents did.

And maybe those are the scariest monsters of all.  Those little biological replicas who navigate the world as carelessly as their parents.  What could be more terrifying than that?  Than seeing a part of yourself being cruel and disrespectful and destructive?  Is there anything more terrifying than that?

Yes - zombies.  Or dolls that come to life and try to kill you.
